Television News: Chris Noth, Luke Perry And American Idol

Chris Noth will not be returning for the eighth season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, a rep for USA confirms to Usmagazine.com. Chris has played Detective Mike Logan on two of the Law and Order shows. Chris first played Mike Logan on the original show on NBC from 1990 to 1995. He then brought back the character on Criminal Intent in 2005. He also is well known for his role Mr. Big on Sex and the City. He played that character on the HBO series and in the big screen movie that is still in theaters. Meanwhile, Jeff Goldblum is joining the cast of Criminal Intent starting this fall.

Don't expect Luke Perry to join Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth on the CW's 90210 spin-off. “I can’t re-imagine it currently,” Luke told The Billy Bush Show Thursday. “It’s just not something that I’ve thought about to be quite honest,” Luke, who played brooding rebel Dylan McKay revealed. “I don’t see it happening.” As for his former castmates Tori and Jennie, “I wish them a lot of luck. I hope they have a lot of success with it,” Luke said.

Chris Noth Says No Plans For Law And Order Big Screen Movie

Law & Order: Criminal Intent star Chris Noth has denied there are any plans to bring the hit crime show to the big screen - insisting the show doesn’t need any more incarnations.

The actor was a member of Law & Order’s original cast between 1990 and 1995 and returned to the franchise in 2005, reprising his character for spin off show Criminal Intent.

The show, which has become the longest running primetime drama in America, now has two successful sub-series - Criminal Intent and Special Victims Unit, with plans for a British branch of the franchise - Law & Order: London - well underway.

And Chris insists that with so many different variations of the show currently showing on TV, there is no need to make a movie as well. He says, “The problem with Law and Order is that it’s on three times a day, six days a week. There are three different shows. I can barely watch it and I’m on it.”

Director Says No Death In SATC Movie

Will Sex and the City have a "Death in the City?" It's been a persistent rumor in cyberspace as the buzz kicks into overdrive for the film opening later this month. Director Michael Patrick King is ready to free us from some of our worst fears. Namely, that Mr. Big, Carrie Bradshaw's longtime, on-and-off love played by Chris Noth, will somehow kick the bucket.

"Kill Mr. Big? I would have been chased around the planet by women with torches," said King, who also wrote the film and produced it along with its star, Sarah Jessica Parker. Actually, the idea of a Mr. Big death was pitched to King early on, the director said in an interview. And it's true, he was aiming for some edge and pathos and melodrama in his script, but not that much.

"I did want an emotional roller-coaster," King said. "But my ultimate target was to make our 'girlfriends' — in other words, our audience — happy. And I don't think Mr. Big dying would make them happy." The death rumor has led to some naughty speculation. One of the naughtiest: New York Magazine suggested that Charlotte, the pretty and perky Park Avenue socialite, could be killed in a freak tennis accident.

So does anybody die? No plot spoilers here. But King, whose movie opens in late May, offered this answer. "It's a summer movie," he said. "Why would I want to kill anyone?"
