Jessica Simpson's Album Is Due Out September 9

Jessica Simpson's long-awaited country album is due out September 9, her father Joe tells Usmagazine.com. "It’s going to be a great year," he told Us at a taping of Pete Wentz's new show F'N MTV in Hollywood Thursday. "It’s 9-9 — she’s into nines this year," he added. "We hope it’s a wonderful joy. It feels really good. She is extremely happy."

The video for "Come on Over," her first single, debuts on her Web site Saturday. "Next week it’ll be on CMT," Joe said. Joe said his daughter — who turned 28 Thursday — is perfect for country music, calling it "the heartland of America. "We forget on the East and West coasts that there is a whole country in between," Joe said. "That’s our home, and that’s Jessica’s home."

Asked why she recorded a country album, Jessica told Billboard earlier this year: "I am a country girl. I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to." Citing Martina McBride, newly single Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Reba McEntire as inspirations, she said, "I think there is a strength in female country artists."

Is Joe Simpson Destroying Jessica And Tony's Relationship?

Us Weekly reporting that Jessica Simpson's controlling father Joe has brought her relationship with Tony Romo to the brink and was the main source behind their split in May. A source tells Us Joe asked Tony, 28, to drop his agent so he could take over his NFL career and $67.5 million contract.

He even offered to broker a deal to sell his engagement and wedding to a magazine should Tony and Jessica, 27, get engaged. "'If you guys have a marriage, I can do the same [sell it] that I did with Ashlee,'" a source quotes Joe as saying.
As tension grew, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback gave Jessica an ultimatum: Tell dad to back off!

When asked for comment by Us, Joe defended himself, telling Us, “It’s unfair to criticize me for what every manager does for his or her clients. And in this business, where people can quickly turn on you, who better than a parent to be working for his children?"

Tony was also turned off by Jessica's partying, another source adds. "Tony goes out and he will drink socially, but he said Jess takes it to an extreme," the pal tells Us. For now, a source says Tony and Jessica are back on, in "a talking stage." Adds the source of their relationship, "it's in a middle-of-the-road state."

And while Jessica and Tony’s relationship might not be as strong as it once was her career is on the up swing. Jessica will perform her first single from her upcoming country album on The View on June 25. The singer will sing "Come on Over" from Las Vegas, where the chat-fest is broadcasting that week.

Jessica Simpson's First Country Single Hits Radio

Her romance with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo may have overshadowed her singing career of late, but Jessica Simpson is back with a new single, the first off her upcoming country album. The lighthearted, upbeat "Come On Over," airing on Jacksonville, Fla. radio station WQIK, features her breathy vocals over a steel guitar. (Visit wqik.com to hear the song.)

On the tune, she sings: "I need you now/ I need you bad/I need you baby looking just like that/Don't pack a bag/Don't make me wait/ I want to kiss that smile that's on your face/I need you wrapped up in these arms/ I want you just the way you are/Come on over."

Early feedback has been positive: in a poll on WQIK's Web site, of the more than 6,600 people who listened to the track, 58 percent gave it a thumbs up. Jessica's record label says that she will be performing at fairs and festivals this summer in support of her country album, due out in September.

Jessica's father told PEOPLE last year that the album will go back to her Texas roots. "She's a singer from top to bottom," Joe Simpson said. "And everything in the music business, especially pop music, has moved away from singers. And I think country is the only pure, storytelling kind of genre left."

Jessica Simpson Takes Vacay To Mexico Without Tony, But With Parents

Tony Romo may have joined Jessica Simpson for pregnant sister Ashlee's Saturday wedding, but he skipped out on a family vacation with her the next day. On Sunday, Jessica and her parents Joe and Tina hopped a private jet for some R&R in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, amidst reports that she and Tony had split. (Jessica, who toted her dog Daisy on the tarmac, doesn't seem to have relationship luck in Cabo. After a teary 2007 trip there with John Mayer — who's currently dating Jennifer Aniston — the pair called it quits.)

On Friday, Usmagazine.com reported that Joe begged Tony to attend Ashlee's wedding "to support the family." That same day, Jessica and Tony were spotted lunching at sushi restaurant Katsuya in L.A. It was the first time they'd been photographed together in three weeks. "He's broken up with her before, but I don't know if they'll get back together this time," a source tells Us.

Ashlee Simpson Married Pete Wentz This Past Weekend

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were married Saturday evening in an intimate ceremony, their spokesperson tells PEOPLE exclusively. "We're delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends," said the spokesperson.

Ashlee, 23, wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier and jewels by William Noble as she and Pete, 28, exchanged vows in front of 150 guests at her parents' Los Angeles area home.

Dad Joe Simpson performed the non-denominational ceremony, while sister Jessica served as maid of honor and Pete's English bulldog, Hemingway, was the ring-bearer. Guests included Jessica's boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, as well as actor Donald Faison with girlfriend CaCee Cobb.

Ashlee told PEOPLE on Friday that she was never the type to dream about her wedding when she was growing up, but changed her tune once she got engaged. "Now that I'm doing it, I definitely have that big dream. It kind of went more fairytale than I thought. I got really into it." Added Pete, "She has this amazing imagination and to watch it take place is an awesome thing."

With the help of wedding planner Mindy Weiss, Ashlee got her dream nuptials: The Alice in Wonderland themed reception featured a wedding cake by Sam Godfrey of Perfect Endings with a top hat, tea pot, stop watch and a pot of flowers on top. The elaborate centerpieces of black beauty roses were by Mark's Garden. Guests were served Rose Veuve Clicquot champagne followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing to a deejay. (Side note… Mindy planned Jessica’s wedding to Nick Lachey in 2002.)

Ashlee, who sources say is pregnant with the couple's first child, and Pete, the bassist for Fall Out Boy, have been linked since the fall of 2006, when they were spotted kissing at a New York nightclub. They announced their engagement last month. "He's a cutie," Ashlee told PEOPLE last year. "He has an awesome personality and kind of brings out the best of me and I knew that even before we were dating. There was just like an awesome connection we had."

After they'd been dating almost a year, Pete told PEOPLE, "We're past the honeymoon period. The truth is, it's crazy to be able to kiss your best friend. It's just a really awesome thing." This is the first marriage for both.

Ashlee Simpson And Pete Wentz Are Engaged!

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are getting married, they announced Wednesday. "We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best," Ashlee said in a statement posted on friendsorenemies.com.

"Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes – it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us."

Ashlee's father, Joe, tells PEOPLE he's "totally happy" and "so excited to have Pete as part of (our) family. We are blessed.”

Ashlee, 23, and Pete, 28, the bassist for Fall Out Boy, have been a linked since the fall of 2006, when they were spotted kissing at a New York nightclub

"I think the first day that we met that we were attracted to each other," Ashlee recently told PEOPLE. Because they were with other people, "Neither one of us did anything," said Pete. "That was good." But they quickly became friends, even as Pete found that "I was into everything about her." Ashlee felt the same way.

"He's a cutie," said Ashlee, "and he has an awesome personality and kind of brings out the best of me and I knew that even before we were dating. There was just like an awesome connection we had."

A year later, they were still going strong. "We're past the honeymoon period," Pete told PEOPLE at the time. "The truth is, it's crazy to be able to kiss your best friend. It's just a really awesome thing."

Speculation that they were engaged began last February when Ashlee, the little sister of Jessica Simpson, was seen wearing a diamond ring on her engagement finger. At the time, she said it was a promise ring and that, "It just means that he hasn't asked my dad yet."
