Patrick Swayze Says "I'm A Mircle Dude"

In the midst of fighting cancer, Patrick Swayze is looking like his old self again – healthy, happy and hot. "I'm a miracle dude ... I don't know why," he told photographers and fans as he left Los Angeles Airport on Sunday afternoon. The actor, 55, also told the crowd he was flying to Chicago, where he's filming his new TV series for A&E, The Beast.

In March, after Patrick announced he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he began chemotherapy. In April, the actor and his wife, Lisa, released a statement saying they were "thrilled" with his response to treatment. "We can't help but feel that all the prayers, meditations and good thoughts sent his way by everyone has made a difference. Thank you!" the couple said. Ever the optimist, Patrick continued his daily routine while undergoing treatment – stepping out to a Lakers game in May and traveling with his wife.

Patrick Swayze Heads Back To Work

Patrick Swayze, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March, is heading back to work. A&E has ordered 13 episodes of his new series The Beast, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Patrick plays an unorthodox FBI veteran who trains a new partner (Tarzan star Travis Fimmel) while being pursued by a secret Internal Affairs team.

The show (which premieres in 2009) is set to go into production this summer in Chicago. A&E execs told the Reporter that the actor's doctors have cleared him to resume work. "I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multi-layered, unpredictable and downright entertaining, as well as a project this current and cutting-edge," Patrick said in a statement.
